Introducing Palm Buddies! I've been making a few different magnet designs using a custom resin mold and Posca pens, with designs that I've drawn myself. This month I wanted to design something with a space theme, which gave me an idea. It should look like a shimmering, colorful galaxy! Using metallic resin flakes, I made a purple/blue space cat magnet with bright stars, constellations and a cute little cat face.
Below is a tutorial of how to make your own, or you can purchase your own Palm Buddy at my Store!
I used these chameleon flakes from Let's Resin, which shimmer between blue and purple depending on the light.

Use a brush to cover the silicone resin mold in the metallic flakes

Pour black 2-part epoxy resin into the mold

After the resin has cured, remove the piece from the mold

Using a white posca pen, draw stars, outlines, and face details

Use yellow to highlight certain stars and the face, and add tiny stars in white as little dots around the body

Pour UV resin over the top of the artwork after it has fully dried

Cure the UV resin under a UV light

A close-up after the resin has cured:

Glue a strong magnet onto the back using E6000 glue

It's done! The color will change depending on the lighting, from one angle it appears purple, and from another it appears blue!

And straight on, it looks almost black like the night's sky

And here's a video showing the process!
